Assistant Secretary - Learning, Department of Defence

Ally joined the Department of Defence in August 2018 as Assistant Secretary, Defence Learning Branch.  Ally is responsible for the provision of high-quality, high employee value learning experiences to Defence APS employees and common training for all Defence people.

Ally became an Australian Public Servant in 2011 with DHS and has led various large and geographically-dispersed service delivery and project teams in Health Service Delivery.  Ally led significant transformation, which has resulted in more efficient and effective health services for healthcare providers and Australian citizens. Prior to joining the APS, Ally had an international career as an educator and education leader in Australia, The Netherlands, England and Argentina. She is conversant in Spanish and fluent in Portuguese.

Ally is an innovator, passionate about perpetual learning, the neuroscience of leadership and building high-performing teams. Ally is committed to bringing out the best in the people she leads, and inspiring a collective focus on, and ownership of, outstanding outcomes.

Ally is an advocate for harnessing new technologies to broaden APS Senior Leadership opportunities in regional hubs.

Ally lives in Melbourne, and in her spare time loves to read classic novels, is unashamedly a member of the F45 cult and in winter will usually be found on a mountain with a snowboard.
